Role Overview
The opportunity is with a leading global insurance organization. As the Motor Underwriter, you will lead underwriting and product development for all motor insurance products across various channels, including motor fleets, individual brokers, dealerships, and business partners. To drive the growth of the business, you'll collaborate with numerous teams such as actuaries, pricing, claims, marketing, and sales teams.
Responsibilities
Underwriting Leadership
- Lead the underwriting team in evaluating motor insurance risks.
- Develop and enforce underwriting guidelines and policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate underwriting decisions.
- Monitor portfolio performance and implement strategies to boost profitability.
- Train and mentor junior underwriters.
Product Development
- Identify market trends and opportunities for new motor insurance products.
- Lead product development from concept to launch.
- Collaborate with actuarial and marketing teams on pricing and promotions.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for all products.
- Regularly review and update existing products and policy terms to stay competitive and meet customer needs.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work with internal teams (actuarial, claims, marketing, sales) to align product strategies.
- Communicate strategies to stakeholders and represent the company at industry events.
- Provide senior management with insights on product performance and market opportunities.
- Ensure compliance by working with legal and regulatory teams.
Process Optimization
- Design efficient underwriting processes to enhance competitiveness.
- Continuously improve workflows to boost productivity and reduce turnaround times.
- Leverage technology and automation to streamline processes.
- Ensure scalability and adaptability of underwriting processes to market changes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, finance, or a related field.
- Professional underwriting certification (e.g., CPCU, ARe, AU) is a plus.
- Prior team management and mentoring experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Thai is a plus.
